  • I am so proud of my niece Rebecca! She is only 15 and has at least another year at school but she is taking her English GCSE early because the standard of her work is so high!! I bought her Catcher In The Rye for her 14th birthday and she devoured it. She has just finished reading Of Mice and Men and is excitedly looking forward to seeing the film at school tomorrow.

She reminds me of me when I was her age – I started reading at about the age of 4 on my own and from then on I just read everything I could get my hands on. I bet that’s probably the case with most people on here we read and then we have to write too, though no one could ever accuse me of being prolific!!

Back at work today after the HfH, the cafe is closed on Wednesday which is not by choice but the entire building closes for the day. I was just at the language school observing how it didn’t fall apart while I was away – perhaps it really is time I left and devoted myself to the cafe? I have to make decisions there too as I don’t know how much longer it will be going as the landlord may be closing the entire building to develop into something else. I am 100% sure I want to continue working for myself but it is very difficult to find property with the correct permissions to sell food and drinks. Well, if it was easy then I guess every other shop in the High Street would be a Starbucks or a MacDonalds…

  • glad to hear you’re doing well! congrats on your continued success sir.

  • Great news about Rebecca.  I’m sure she’ll do well in the exam when it comes.  It is great that her school is allowing her to do this.
