  • Time marches on

and I don't get on here to blog about it! It's just insanely busy, Patrick is working seven days a week on three or four different projects and I'm running the business, teaching at the college and learning a new therapy to offer clients - Swedish massage. Speaking of which I actually had the exam today and passed with flying colours, so I am now a massage therapist.

I am happy to report that my nephew is out of hospital and recovering at home from the brain injury caused by the abscesses that decided to take up residence there and almost kill him. I'm thrilled that he is out of danger and on the long road to recovery, but his illness and the subsequent stresses around it have driven a bit of a wedge between my sister and I - despite my ongoing generosities towards her and her brood. I'm okay about this - I left home when I was 17 and never really intended to have much more to do with my family after that but then I went back to Birmingham in my early thirties and stayed way too long! I don't need to vent here, or anywhere for that matter. Suffice it to say that the whole thing has reminded me that I cannot count on my siblings and I think I will mostly just leave them to get on with their lives.

I've been worrying a bit recently about Fintan my doggie, he's ok, he's not sickening with anything but I am starting to realise that he is not the youthful pup he used to be and from time to time I get a bit upset thinking of the fact that one day he won;t be with me. Still, we have hopefully plenty of time left together and I will be taking him out on lovely walks in the local park for as long as I can - hopefully many, many more years!

  • Congrats on passing your exam! Do you get the formal-looking certificate to frame and hang up to show that you are a formal massage therapist?

I share your worry about your beloved pet; I look at my Baily and Dopey and they aren't as youthful and sleek as they once were. I too fret about the day they won't be around but I try not to think about that since it is heartbreaking to think about. Like you, I hope they'll be around for many years more.

  • Great news about you passing your exam. We all knew you'd do it as you are so diligent at your studying and learning.

My you are both busy and it must be stressful. I know what you mean about family. We have pulled together recently re Tommy however but we all have our separate lives and at times I find it difficult with the emotional side of things where my family is concerned - I'm not the only person in the world to feel that and I won't be the last so I'm sure you'll know what I mean there too.

Re pets, yes it is hard when we have to face up to mortality. For the moment, enjoy each day on all those lovely walks. x

  • Big congrats on passing your exams. You are awesome. Your Fintan looks like he has quite a few more walks left in him. I am having to handle family issues and they are frustrating. I have to be the bitch and the asshole. Oh well...

  • Congrats on the exam result and on being busy. I'm glad that your nephew is recovering though I guess it will take a long time. Re. the family - remember your sister has been through a lot recently so if she is a bit offhand with you it might be that she is still under stress. I'm glad that your weather hasn't been as bad as here but it's the south that has suffered more - hence why it makes the national headlines   Walks in the park will keep Fintan healthy and happy ( plus it's good for you too ! ) Marie

  • How many different things in one short post can I agree and find commonality with! My main lack of posting recently is down to a combination of being busy with sorting out the house for sale, problems with siblings (ok, my brother), not wanting to rant online about said problems and finally a killer cold. Hopefully I will find my muse more when I permanently return home to his majesty next week. I can also empathise totally about looking at your dog and contemplating the future, as I still look at Charley and think I just couldn't have done without her through all the problems in the last 8 months. Good to hear both you and Patrick are being so successful and congrats on the latest feather in your cap.
